Nutella Cheesecake Brownies

nutella cheesecake brownies cl

Nutella is such a sweet girl (yes, Nutella is a she). Although her strong chocolate personality might be a bit overwhelming for some, it's really her subtle hazelnuts that make her unforgettable. It's hard not to like her. Just last week she was hanging out with new friends egg white and jam like they had known each other forever.

For World Nutella Day, I thought I would introduce her to cream cheese. I wasn't sure if they would get along since cream cheese can be a bit tangy. Well, I was worried for nothing. Nutella and cream cheese got along just swimmingly. I think they're going to be BFF (best friends forever)!

Nutella Cheesecake Brownies

Ingredients for brownie layer:
10 tbsp butter (5 ounces) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
1/4 cup Nutella
2 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup natural cocoa powder

Ingredients for cheesecake layer:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened at room temp.
3 tbsp granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/3 cup Nutella

Preheat oven to 325F. Line a 9x9 inch square pan with parchment.

To make the brownie layer...
Combine butter, Nutella, eggs, and sugar in a large bowl and mix well. Sift in flour and cocoa powder and mix until well combined. Pour batter into your prepared pan and spread evenly. Set aside while you prepare the cheesecake layer.

To make the cheesecake layer...
Mix the cream cheese, sugar, eggs and Nutella until well combined. Pour over your brownie batter.

Bake at 325F until the cheesecake looks set, about 40-45 minutes. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting. (I cut my brownies into 36 since they are quite decadent.)

World Nutella Day is the brainchild of Ms. Adventures in Italy's Sara and At Home in Rome's Shelly. Please join the Nutella festa on February 6th and celebrate the original chocolate hazelnut spread.

That looks like about the creamiest brownie I've ever seen. I can see it would be easy for nutella and cream cheese to be BFF!

It's funny because I was thinking about making chocolate cupcakes with a Nutella icing for Valentine's Day. Cheesecake brownies sound very interesting.

Mary,

These brownies are wonderful!

Nutella will work in anything. It's so creamy, delicious, decadent, I can't think of anything that would go wrong with it!

The hard thing about cooking with Nutella is to not eat the whole jar before you actually make the recipe.

Fantastic, Mary! Nothing more to add to these besides a nice glass of milk along-side!

Hey, for saying that you're not a good photographer, especially this first pic of the nutella brownie is pretty awesome! Could you please introduce me to your brownie? I'm sure we will be BBF, too!

This is inspired. Just found your blog and I think I want to try my hand at everything. It all looks so good!

Jesus, these were good. I have to confess I used dark chocolate spread (i.e. Nutella sans the nut) and then put a bit of espresso powder into the cheesecake part.... The brownie base was perfect support for the silky silky cheesecake part. It was amazing. I cut my pieces huge and we wolfed them down way too fast and then we all felt deservedly ill, so next time I'm trying it with peanutbutter in the cheesecake part.

At my husband's request, I made these tonight, and I am about to die waiting for them to cool! Thanks for the recipe!

Holy crap! I was at a loss for what to bring to a 4th of July party tomorrow, but this...THIS sounds amazing. I'm thinking about drizzling more Nutella over the finished product and further embellishing with chopped hazelnuts.

Mary said...

Rob: I've also drizzled w/ Nutella and chopped hazelnuts when I wanted a "fancier" presentation. I hope your July 4th is a good one!

I googled nutella cheese cake, and realized on only had one pkg of cream cheese. then I saw this recipe and went at it. As I pulled out my pkg of cream cheese, someone had decided to hack a chunk out of it (like 2 oz). So i'm improvised....grabbed for the sour cream and added a couple spoonfuls....this is the first time making them and their AWSOME!!!

I made these brownies this weekend and they were awesome! The cream cheese layer was SO good and the brownies had the perfect amount of chew to them. We had them with a scoop of ice cream--highly recommended!

thanks for the great recipe,
amanda

Yesterday at work, I was craving a rich chocolate dessert and I wasn't sure what to make...I remembered reading about these on your blog and stopped at the store on the way home to pick up some Nutella. They were WONDERFUL! Totally satisfied my craving, and my boyfriend said, "I think these are the best brownies I've ever had." (High praise, considering he's had a LOT of different brownies!) Thank you so much for this recipe.

Mary said...

Elisabeth - Thanks so much for trying out my recipe. Happy to hear that you and your BF liked them. =)

Rachel said...

I made these last night, and WOW! They are astonishingly good! The brownie part alone is amazing enough, but the Nutella cheesecake adds the perfect tangy complement to the sweetness of the brownie. I'm trying to keep myself busy so I don't keep snacking on them. Thanks for the great recipe!!

Oh my dear lord.

I didn't think three words could be combined to create a phrase quite so beautiful as "Nutella Cheesecake Brownies."

I was trying to find something to make for a potluck at work when I stumbled upon this recipe. Two halves of me were at odds - one half is kind of a health nut, the other a Nutella... er, nut. The Nutella side won, and these turned out just as good as they sounded, which is to say astoundingly good.

God bless you mad devil that concocted these.

I stumbled upon this site when looking for some Nutella recipes. I decided to try your brownie recipe for a family party. It was HUGE hit. The brownies were gone by the end of the night. That NEVER happens! My family makes so much food that there are always left overs. Thank you so much for this amazingly good recipe! It will definitely be something that I make for every family party.

About how much does a Cup of Nutella weigh in grams? I'm in the UK where we don't use the Cup as a unit of measurement :-)

just made these a little while ago and they are ABSOLUTELY the best thing i have tasted in so very long!
the brownie part is amazing, i love that they are light and chewy as aposed to the soft and heavy kind that you sometimes get, and the cheesecake part is so soft and delicious. This has to be one of my favorite recipes now, especially since i adore nutella!

These turned out really good, thanks so much for the recipe!

Oh how wonderful that looks! I just read about Nutella day and stumbled on your blog for this recipe. Nutella is one of my most favorite foods in the world. I usually just eat it out of the jar, but it is time to branch out and try these great looking cheesecake brownies!

My husband and I love this recipe. It is the most delicious brownie recipe and it is easy for a non-baker. Box brownie mix is a thing of the past. All I can say is OMG.

Anonymous said...

Hi, I hope this isn't a stupid question. I have been staring and wanting to make this in my own kitchen but I cannot find any cream cheese in my local supermarket in UK! does cream cheese go by another name as I find it quite unbelievable that I cannot locate any despite searching through 3 different supermarkets.

xx

Mary said...

Anonymous on 05/04/09 - Sometimes American style cream cheese can be called Philadephia. If you're having touble finding cream cheese in the UK, you can use mascarpone.
